I decided to post the results of my tests as soon as I have them, instead of waiting to have all tests done. So here's my first test: Battery life while Browsing.
Screen Brightness at ~20% II got only 1 hour and 25 mins. At that time the processor switched to a very slow speed where it was impossible to work at all. When I decided to stop the test the battery life was 7%, but again, the processor speed was very slow, making the eo practically unusable.
It is weak, very weak…
ReplyDeleteCatastrophic results…
Not sure the battery life and heat are worth $100.
ReplyDelete$1000.......sorry
ReplyDeleteWow...I don't know what to say. Just think the extended battery whould of only gotther 2.5 hours! That is horible!
ReplyDeleteI don't know I may cancel the EO.
Should I keep it?
With an extended battery you should at least get 3.5 hours Miniuim.
im gutted!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a pile of junk. I wanted a UMPC primarily for web-browsing but after reading the initial reviews I think i'll stick with my Nokia 770. I get something like 5-6 hrs of browsing....and with a 1GB rsmmc with root file system extended, and a 200mb swapfile, this device is absolutely unbelievable. Picked it up for $299 at Frys.
ReplyDeleteAnd here I thought it was just me....
ReplyDeleteI kept wondering what I was doing wrong setting-wise because I keep getting an hour and a half or so. TabletKiosk better have the extended batteries available quickly!
Got to say though, that even with the short battery and heat I am liking this device a lot. (I am used to the heat from using a tablet the past few years and with the extended battery as least we are looking at 3 or so hours.
So how can the samsung with its power hungry celeron beat this lean C7M?
ReplyDeletePeople reviewing the samsung reckon they are getting 2.5-3 hrs!!
First of all. I have to say that I love this device. The battery life is no doubt about it, BAD. For those who mentioned the Q1 II have not read yet a review about that unit where ready benchmarks were posted. Some body says that he got around two hours watching movies. well. let me say that Wifi is one of the big battery suckers. I another hand. I have not found a way yet. or I just have not had enough time, to check the BT. It seem to me that Bt is on all time. If this is the case, that's Bad, Because BT is another Big sucker. I'll do other tests today, watching a movie with Wifi off. to see what I get from this other test.
ReplyDeleteI'll take the comparison with the Nokia as a joke. This is 1000 times more powerfull than that Nokia. And let me tell you one thing, it perform a lot faster than my Pentium 4 laptop.
ReplyDeleteYou must turn off Bluetooth. Just go into the device settings, and disable bluetooth.
ReplyDeleteDo that, and then run a test with WIFI. You should get two hours, at least.
But if BT is on, then it's goign to drain fast.
Please make sure BT is off! Then run the test. I think were all counting on you, to see if we want these devices or not.
The difference in the Q1 where video is concerned is that you do not boot into windows.
ReplyDeleteYou are running a "low treshold" program and XP is off, that is why you have to reboot to get to XP from the video.
That would explain the better time on the video.
CTitanic,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your answer.
Beacuse playing music or movies having the device off it's only a Q1 feature, it's very important knows the time of complet starting of the UMPC with also a 7200 HDD.
Thanks agains
It takes a few seconds to come back from Standby. I'm very pleased in this point.
ReplyDeleteCTitanic,
ReplyDeleteIt's not recommended to leave in standby a portable computer when the user walks.
Wich the time of complet starting of the EO with a 7200 HDD, your exemple ?
Thanks.
Best regards,
PARIS (FRANCE)
I have many programs that are loaded during boot so my answer to your question is really irrelevant. I can tell you that it's faster them in my laptop and that I'm pleased. About what you are saying of that it's not recommended to put your device in standby if you are walking l think that it Just a myth. ;)
ReplyDeleteThe HDD is not protected when standby.
ReplyDeleteI believe that when you put the device in Standby the heads are move to safe possition so what ever can damage your HDD will damage it no matter in what mode are you running.
ReplyDeleteIts not sure.
