DailyTech is reporting about a new UMPC coming from Asus. Still known when this one will be released and price.
Asus says that its new Eee PC 701 uses an Intel processor and chipset, but doesn't get into specifics. Given the small form-factor, the likely candidates are the 600MHz A100 processor and 945GU Express chipset... Also included with the device are a 7" display, 10/100 Ethernet port, 56k modem, 802.11b/g wireless, 512MB of DDR2-400 memory and a webcam. Storage duties are handled by 4GB, 8GB or 16GB of solid-state memory.
Asus claims that the Eee PC 701 can operate for up to 4 hours on its 4-cell battery.
These guys are sick! Why they are wasting all that space around the screen? The design on this one is horrible. I do not have any other words to describe it.
For $200 (which is it's target price), I don't care how ugly it looks.
ReplyDeleteI did not the price when I wrote this note.
ReplyDeleteThe 200 dollars tag is good but I doubt that that price is for a Windows Version of this device. Don't let them fool you.
But I agree, with that price tag is not that horrible. ;)
Who cares if it is not a Windows machine? for the purposes of the devices, a linux machine will do it great!
