Now this little guy is satisfied for real

Have I ever said that I was born in a city by the see where mostly half of people make a living from the see and the other half maintaining the first  half? So putting everything in a fishermen language, the fish could not resist my bait. So now I (this little guy ) got what I wanted a full video/explanation of why Hugo downgraded to an OQO 02:

If UberTablet were a family I guess Frank Garcia (Ctitanic) would sure be part of it. He recently picked on me for downgrading from a perfectly good Samsung Q1P to the OQO model 02. In my defense I posted some thoughts yesterday and I seemed to have pleased the little guy with my response. Having said that I believe my job as head of the family remains unaccomplished until the entire family is debriefed and up to speed with Frank and me.

Hugo is a seller by nature, so if anyone could convince me that the OQO 02 is a better choice that's him. After viewing Hugo's video the only thing that I can say is: What is good for some people could be not the best thing for you. Always remember that when you are buying anything. I enumerated clearly the reasons why I would no go for a OQO 02. I have a VIA UMPC, I have tested another one and I'm convinced that VIA Processors are just not for me. I need more performance for what I'm doing. So even if I would not have to pay for it I would not use the OQO 02 as my main machine.

There are two things that I did not mentioned in my list of facts was the screen size. Even if I wanted to go with a smaller than 7 inches screen I do not think that due to my myopia that would have worked. I use contact lenses to correct my far vision so I can not read very small letters. And this is why I always advice people thinking about to buy a 5 inches UMPC to test it before they pay for it. To check if they feel good with that screen size.  The Second thing is that I never use a keyboard in my Q1. Unless I have to write very very long articles. And that happens not that often and for that I have a BT Stowaway Keyboard. So not being a keyboard kind of guy to me the OQO does not represent any advantage because like the same Hugo says, if he has to write a long article he connects the OQO to a keyboard.

Anyway... I would like to thank Hugo for biting the bait and releasing this incomparable video explanation. Bravo Hugo!

Again, the bottom line is just one. Reviews are good, but always remember one thing and this is the main reason why I avoid to answer questions asking me what is the best UMPC to buy:

What is good for one person could be the worse thing for other.

Why?

When the time to write the story of UMPCs comes Hugo Ortega will have a place in that book. His videos about why he selected the Samsung Q1 as his primary and main machine are just a classic. You wont find anything closer to the image of a modern Don Quixote than the photo of him holding his Samsung Organizer in his visit to the far land of China.

For me it was a logical move when Hugo switched his eo v7110 for the Samsung Q1, for a powerful user a powerful machine. And if that was understandable, I'm having a really hard time trying to comprehend why he changed his Q1 for a OQO 02.

No, I have not used a OQO 02 but that does not change anything.
You are right there is not way to compare both devices, this is why I asked Hugo what made him to change the full size keyboard of the Q1 that allowed him to post from anywhere at a higher speed  for that small OQO keyboard where you can't type more than 30 wpm, the comfortable 7" touch screen where you can type using anything including fingers for that small size digitizer where you need to carry a special pen. A lot faster and powerful processor for a very hot and slow VIA. A machine using Vista for a machine using XP knowing that Vista recognition is better.

I would like him to explain with his magic, why he is using now the OQO?

Facts:

• VIA Processor is slower than a Celeron processor.
• VIA devices run a a higher temperature than Samsung Q1s.(°)
• OQO 02 is noisy compare to a Q1, the noise is produced by the processor fan, the same noise can be found in Amtek T700 and T770.(°)
• The integrated keyboard is slower than the full size keyboard included in the Samsung organizer.
• The OQO 02 does not include a digital pen and even if it is included there is not any bay or pen holder in the machine body to keep the pen. The digital pen needs to be carried as a separated item.
• Vista Recognizer is a lot better than XP recognizer.Hugo's OQO uses XP Tablet PC 2005 Edition.

(°)- Your can read about OQO noise, high temperature and absence of a pen holder here. I'm using this review as reference because it was written by somebody who loves his OQO, no by one of those "specialized magazine tech writers".

Practical use for UMPCs

That's what Hugo Ortega is talking about in this report. Audi in Australia is using the Samsung Q1 to bring the maximum satisfaction to clients. Way to go Audi!
