Chippy emptied his pockets

It’s hard to see Chippy from UMPC Portal really excited with any device. And this is because he has been lucky enough to play with most of them and when you do that you get like vaccinated against those buying impulses that you get when you see something you that you really like. Well, apparently, the vaccine failed and Chippy has bought a Gigabyte M912M sent to him for a review. Why? Lets him tell you about it in this video.

I don't know if I should be publishing this after the news of this device not been available for our American readers.  Something hard to digest even 24 hours after I read the news. Anyway... Chippy has some really good news for our European friends about the different models and prices for this device that seem to be one of the best options for this Summer.

Gigabyte M912V won't see USA territory

Yeah, a real chocking news! I know for fact that many of my friends and readers here in USA where waiting for this netbook to be released here in USA to buy it. Well, the good news is that at least European are going to see soon. 

The Gigabyte representative writes, "I am sorry, but this product will not be released in the US/Canada Market. It will only be available in Asia and Europe."

Gigabyte M912V

Gigabyte is going to surprise us with a new netbook running Vista this Summer.

Featuring a 8.9-inch WXGA touch screen display that can be rotated 180 degrees to transform into a tablet pc, the M912V adopts 160GB SATA HDD, a 1.3M camera and LED backlight. 4GB SSD and HSDPA support are optional.

No words at Aving USA about what processor will be using this machine. I just hope that it's a Core Solo... at least.

The P1600 has an outdoor/indoor screen, fingerprint reader, a modem and a PCMCIA slot. So this one should be cheaper.

Finally some real pictures of the Gigabyte's new M700 UMPC

 Engadget has just posted some real pictures of the M700 from Gigabyte. With 2 GB and that 1,2 VIA processor this device is a fair competitor for the latest FIASCO of Intel called Atom which performance is a lot worse than a Celeron M at 900 MHz according to the latest numbers that I have in my hands.

The M700 (pictured) is a tad more ambitious, with a VIA C7-M 1.2GHz processor, Windows Vista Home Premium, 2GB of RAM, a 1.8-inch 40GB / 60GB HDD and a 1024 x 600 7-inch touchscreen. There's no hardware keyboard, but you can type via a UMPC-style software keyboard, and real kicker here is a dock for the computer that lets the M700 power a desktop setup, complete with disc drive. No word on price or release date for either of these.

Gigabyte M700 UMPC unveiled at CeBit

 Wow, this is a really good looking design and technically is not bad at all.

Just unveiled at CeBit, Gigabyte's M700 UMPC comes with a surprising 2 GB RAM. In addition to its hefty memory and bright design, the M700 manages to pack in a 7-inch, 1024x600 touchscreen and a 1.2 GHz Via C7-M processor. It also has Windows Vista Home Premium. Details on pricing and release are hush hush at this point.

Ruvo's UMPC

A few days ago I was writing about the Gigabyte UMPC: 

I don't know but I like the design of this and the OQO 02 UMPCs. I really do not need the keyboard but beside the convertible type I think that this way to have the keyboard integrated is one of the best ones.

And Today I received an interesting email from Ruvo, a Malaysian company that's also selling this product under the their own name. They sent me the device brochure where all the details about this UMPC can be found.

Gigabyte UMPC launched in India

has anybody bought this yet? This one has been launched in every where but the fact is that I have not seen it sold neither in Europe or USA. The news comes from TechTree.com.
